Education is a fundamental human right and essential for the exercise of all other human rights. It promotes individual freedom and empowerment and succumb important development benefits. It’s a powerful tool by which economically and socially marginalized people can lift themselves out of poverty and participate fully as a citizen. But for that we need to ensure a strong basis first to our kids.
The RTE Act provides for free and compulsory education to the children in the age group of 6 to 14 years. But what about preparing the child well before he enters the primary school? The age of 3 to 5 year is a crucial time in the life of a child. In this particular stage the child develops his ideas about the world and also it is the time when his basic instincts are shaped up. It is said that what a child learns in this period, he remembers that for the rest of his life. In this period the child resembles to clay.
The teachers and parents together can shape up this clay with their love, care, patience and dedication. As the world is developing rapidly, so forming a strong basis of the children has become the need of the hour. Parents having sound economical status can afford to send their kids into good nursery schools. What about the children from economically weaker section? Don’t they deserve a good grooming in the nursery schools? Raising all these questions, the Indian parents are now appealing to the Indian Government to implement RTE Act for the nursery students as well.A social activist, Mrs. Survi Sarda put her views as “we thank the Indian Government for implementing such an Act as RTE. But what is the use of such Act when we are unable to provide a strong basis to our little angles.
As nursery school trains its kids and prepares them for the battle called life, so it should also come under RTE Act”. Mrs. Sarda further stated that “if the Government can provide free and compulsory education to the nursery students, the number of school goers will increase in the villages of the country”. Anganwadi, a government sponsored child-care and mother-care center also contributing a lot in the villages of the country. But the need still remains for free nursery education system for each and every child of the country. It would be a new dawn in the education system of the country if Government can implement RTE Act for the nursery goers as well.
